Breaking the Scarcity Spell: How Personal Love, Purpose & Mindset Transform Your Relationship with Money

Growing up in Colombia during the 90s, I saw firsthand what it meant to live under the weight of scarcity.

In 1998, our economy collapsed. My father filed for bankruptcy, and everything we had known as stable suddenly crumbled. That was the time when my family fragmented, and we had to depend on others for food, housing, and school.

That chapter imprinted in me a deep fear around money - one that followed me across borders when I left for the U.S. in search of a better life.

Scarcity isn't just about not having enough. It's a mindset - a haunting belief that there won’t be enough, we won’t be enough, or that security is always just out of reach or for others but not for me.

For years, I overperformed, over gave, and overextended myself to outrun that fear. But the truth is, the antidote to financial scarcity is not found in doing more. It’s found in becoming more aligned - with your personal love, purpose, and positive mindset.

These are the superpowers I help my coaching clients reclaim for their lives and careers.

1. Personal Love: The Foundation of Financial Self-Worth

If you don’t believe you’re worthy of rest, joy, or abundance—you’ll block yourself from receiving it. For years, I tied my worth to productivity. The more I hustled, the more I believed I “deserved” money or success. But that mindset was draining and unsustainable. Personal love is about choosing yourself first—not out of selfishness, but out of self-love. It's about making empowered financial choices that reflect your value and vision, not just your obligations or skills. Clients who begin to prioritize personal love often stop overspending to fill emotional voids, set firmer boundaries in their careers, and start charging what they’re truly worth.

2. Purpose: Your Financial Compass

When you're connected to your purpose, money becomes a tool—not a measure of your identity. Purpose guides you to create aligned goals, make bold moves, and take risks that actually fulfill you. One of my clients said, “Once I reconnected with my why, I stopped chasing every opportunity and started creating the ones that made sense for my future; those that fulfilled me deeply.” Purpose helps you break out of survival mode and into intentional, sustainable success.

3. Positive Mindset: Your Wealth Multiplier

A negative or scarce money mindset will keep you stuck no matter how much you earn. Through tools like the Saboteur Assessment and Positive Intelligence exercises in the Breaking Through Coaching journey, I help women rewire their beliefs - shifting from “I can’t afford that” to “How can I align my resources to what truly matters?” When you start believing in possibility, your energy shifts. You begin to attract opportunities, clients, and ideas that weren’t visible before.

Action Steps You Can Take Today:

  1. Journal: What messages did you grow up hearing about money? Are they still serving you?

  2. Affirm: Every morning, say: “I am worthy of wealth and wellbeing. I trust myself to use money with purpose.”

  3. Schedule: Book a clarity call with me and let’s explore your story and how we can transform your financial mindset from the inside out.
